What do you say when your partner callously tells you that your relationship didn't mean as much to them as it did to you,
and that suddenly it's over?
I've always believed that, as much as we have no control over the behaviour of others, we still have a choice about how we respond to
the curves that life throws our way. This song is about just that - making your own decision when someone else has dropped a bomb
on your otherwise happy life.
Is this song autobiographical? No, indeed I am a charlatan, a phony, pretending that I've been saddled with this emotional turmoil.
But to anyone who has felt this cornered, felt the rug pulled out from under their feet, this song is your anthem. Take that!
This is one of only two songs for which the original piano track recorded in New Jersey was kept in the final mix.
