"If Ever I Cried" carries somewhat of a bitter message, written for a friend whose wife of many years carried
on an affair that led to the birth of the other man's child. While their marriage wasn't exactly the best for a
long time up to that point, there's no denying the shock and finality that comes with that kind of event.
This is probably my favourite recording on the album, mostly because of the transition it made from work track to
final mix. Mike Francis shows that he was obviously born to play the guitar - his smooth jazzy rhythm and killer
solo make the hairs on my arms stand on end every time I hear the track...
...notice, me getting the words slightly wrong as I sing on the work track - nobody's perfect...
