The song which refused to come together until the eleventh hour, I desperately wanted to include this song on the album, but I wasn't happy
with the lyrics until a final re-write days before the first recording session. When Gary and Scott arrived on day one of the bed track session,
I had 9 recorded demos for them to listen to, but even Darren hadn't heard 'Too' yet, so I handed the guys a chart of the chord changes and played/sang
them the song at the piano. Gary said 'cool' and rushed to the drums, Scott nodded his head as he picked up his bass, and we dove into the song.
A few takes later, and we had the track recorded as a trio, and moved on to the next song. This was definitely the song that we had the most fun recording, especially the vocal session with Ian Tanner, Amoy Levy and Nicole Sinclair. They really
poured on the sugar...
Even before I had wrestled the song into submission, I was so in love with the song that I was prepared to go ahead with recording the backing tracks,
though that would have meant pressuring myself to fix the lyrics just in time to record the vocals.
The song is about the extreme pressure from our society to be perfect, especially the pressure on women to have the perfect physical appearance.
